In this tutorial you will learn about some simple techniques used to create a high quality rusty texture. Also this tutorial will cover the text that should be used on that rusty background.

1) Create a new document and fill background with black #000000
and also set your foregroud color to #87681E

2) Go to Filter > Render > Clouds

 3) Go to Images > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast:
Set : Brightness: 40 and contrast: -30

4) Go to Filter > Brush Strokes > Sprayed Strokes.
Set:
Stroke Length: 5
Spray Radius: 20
Stroke Direction: Horizontal

5)Go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise.
Set:
Amount: 3

6)Go to Filter > Brush Strokes > Splatter
Set:

7) Go to Filter > Sharpen > Unsharp Mask
Set:

Now your rusty texture is ready. Its time to add some text. Select the Type Tool and type any text you want and apply blending options with these settings.

Now Don't forget to change your type layer's mode to LINEAR DODGE.

Here is my final Result :

On the background I applied some more brushes of CRACKS to make it look old.
